Our Care Giving Philosophy
Bloomington Child Care provides constant supervision and devoted attention in a safe, relaxed play based environment that allows children to explore and grow. Our children enjoy hands-on learning experiences, accompanied by encouragement and positive reinforcement. Children need a nurturing environment that supports free expression and stimulates learning. Most importantly, children need to have fun! We do our utmost to blend learning, socialization, and fun to optimize your child’s time with us.
Your child will love our large collection of toys, games and books. Your child will not be parked in front of a television at Bloomington Child Care! We finger-paint, use play dough, draw, dress up, run and play in the yard and work in our organic garden in our large fenced in yard. We also enjoy hanging out laundry and swinging or playing on our several age-appropriate play sets. Digging in the garden is a favorite activity with the older children. Parents can feel secure leaving their children at Bloomington Child Care. We believe in the “Four Ls” -- Listening, Learning, Loving, and Laughing -- and nurture each child as if he or she was our own.

We opened up our home to Bloomington Child Care after struggling to find a child care option for our daughter with which we were comfortable and happy. At Bloomington Child Care, we are happy to support parents who breastfeed, cloth diaper, home-school, or have chosen a ‘green’ organic lifestyle for their family.
Our small group size is your assurance that each child receives the attention and encouragement conducive to developing a sense of self and individuality. We hope to instill confidence and a positive outlook that your child will carry into the future.
Our Quality Child Care Program Offers:
Our Green Philosophy
We actively seek out renewable and recyclable products. Plastic products, most especially disposable products, are kept to an absolute minimum. For example, at Bloomington Child Care we do not use bottled water; rather, water for all food preparation and beverage use is filtered with the renewable and environmentally-friendly Pur™ Filtration System.
We are avid recyclers! We recycle plastics, paper, glass (and even household items via Craigslist or Freecycle in Monroe County). I am an active member with our local Freecycle group as well as the ThreadUP site, in order to recycle good quality baby items to those who can use them. Buy right, buy smart, and take care of what you have, are important philosophies for small children to learn. While teaching a toddler that a “want” is different from a “need” is often challenging, it can be successfully learned by extremely young children, freeing them to grow up with less vulnerability to “consumer conditioning” by advertisers. The children who observe this philosophy put into action on a daily basis at Bloomington Child Care will gain a valuable foundation for exercising self-control, and making responsible choices in the future.
Small Group Size Enhances Quality Child Care
We are a State Licensed home-based family child care. Bloomington Child Care has elected to go further in our pursuit of quality and we are participants in the Indiana "Paths to QUALITY" program.
We have designed our program with the belief that a low child-to-caregiver ratio provides the highest quality child care, by allowing for each child's individual needs to be met easily. In addition, small group sizes promote the development of close relationships and the feeling of being a family. We have also learned that with a smaller group we can create bigger projects, adventures, and art; children are not limited by time and space as would often be the case in a center style daycare setting.
Bloomington Child Care can provide care for a maximum of twelve children; the number of openings we have depends on the ages of children already enrolled, and our judgment regarding what dynamics will be best for the children. To ensure quality we like to keep the group size between six and eight children under the supervision of two adults (3/ 4 to 1 ratio).
